On this new tour, discover England9s smallest city, the beautiful Mendip
Hills, the spectacular Cheddar Gorge and the Somerset Coast. Enjoy a day
in the wonderful city of Bath, a protected World Heritage Site, which is full
of architectural wonders. We head to the Somerset Coast and visit
Weston-super-Mare, a seaside resort with a fabulous beach and new pier,
before an afternoon spent at Oakham Treasures, which will give you an
uplifting trip down memory lane with its vast and unique collection of
memorabilia. Finally, we explore Wells, England9s smallest city, on market
day, followed by a short journey to the spectacular setting of Cheddar
Gorge, home to some breath-taking caves.
South Devon beckons with a classic seaside resort - Torquay. We start by
boarding a steam train which takes us along a delightful stretch of
coastline to Kingswear, where we catch the ferry to Dartmouth. We visit
the Royal Naval College, Sir Walter Raleigh9s Boathouse, and Greenway
Quay – all on a river cruise! There will be some free time in the historic city
of Plymouth, which is famous for Sir Francis Drake who headed out to sea
to defeat the Spanish Armada. The return journey takes us through
Dartmoor National Park to absorb some stunning scenery. We spend a day
soaking up the atmosphere, the parks, the gardens and all that Torquay
has to offer.
