Spend time in the Victorian Gothic Revival house of Tyntesfield, where we
explore the Grade I listed house, garden and estate. We also spend time in
the lovely seaside town of Weston Super Mare – walk along the Grand Pier
and admire the stunning views before visiting the refurbished Weston
Museum.
We travel to Wells, the smallest city in England which offers numerous
historical marvels such as the famous 14th century Astronomical Clock, the
Bishop9s Palace, and of course, the outstanding cathedral. There is also the
award-winning Somerset Farmers9 Market which is held every Wednesday
before taking lunch then heading to Cheddar Gorge and Caves where our
ticket includes one cave entrance. (Steps need to be negotiated in the
caves).
Today we spend at leisure in Bath, Somerset9s largest city, where we have a
host of delights to choose from – the Roman Baths, the Royal Crescent,
Bath Abbey or perhaps try a famous Sally Lunn Bun in one of the city9s
oldest buildings.
Smiths Hotel, Weston-Super-Mare
The Yorkshire Dales is a fabulous place for walking whether you are looking
for a gentle riverside stroll or a hike on a wild and empty moorland.
Grassington is a vibrant village with cobbled streets surrounded by shops,
cafes, galleries, a museum, pubs, and restaurants and was transformed
into the fictional town of Darrowby for the TV show 8All creatures great
and small9. For the walker and nature lover, a myriad of footpaths reveal
ancient woodland, windswept moorland, a patchwork of dry-stone walls
and hay meadows, wild orchids, rushing becks, limestone pavements and
magnificent views of Wharfedale with a soundtrack of lambs and curlews.
Set in the heart of Yorkshire, Harrogate, is a Victorian Spa town and rural
district recognised as a designated area of outstanding natural beauty,
made famous for Bettys Tea rooms from here you are a short drive to
another area of outstanding natural beauty – Nidderdale…national
protected landscape full of exhilarating windswept moorlands and steep
river valleys.
